NWSC-ABE
The NWSC serves several school districts in northern Minnesota providing resources, training and other educational assistance.  The NWSC houses several programs including ABE.

Mission Statement

The mission of Adult Education is to enable all eligible adults to become fully participating self-sufficient citizens in, rather than dependent clients of, our society.

Accomplishments

  • 2002 Recipients of PEGASUS Award                                                  
    PEGASUS is an acronym which stands for Program of Excellence: Guaranteeing Adult Students Unlimited Success.  This is a traveling award presented to MN Adult Basic Education programs which demonstrate qualitites of excellence in teaching adults.  The NWSC program was the first ABE program in the state to recieve this award in the small ABE consortia category. 
  • 2003 Recipient - ABE Teacher of the Year - Rose Anderson, Baudette
    Rose Anderson was recongnized by Literacy Minnesota for demonstrating outstanding performance as an ABE teacher at Lake of the Woods School in Baudette, MN. 
  • 2005 Recipient - ABE Advocacy Award - Chris Wahlberg, Warroad
    Chris Wahlberg was recognized by Literacy Minnesota for her work in promoting and advocating for adult literacy learners within the Lao community in Warroad, MN.
  • 2005 Recipient - ABE Leadership Award - Carol Gregerson, Badger
    Carol Gregerson was recognized by Literacy Minnesota for demonstrating exemplary leadership, flexibility, and creativity as the coordinator of the NWSC ABE program in Thief River Falls, MN.
